You might think the title of the book, "An Inconvenient Truth", is about project management - the inconvenient truth being the message you have to give as a project manager to your customer or your manager - something like:
Luckily for you this first book recommendation is not about project management. The book - An Inconvenient Truth - is authored by Al Gore and it is about the climate crisis we all face - Global Warming etc. If you are like me and you have not been keeping up with this project - the earth project - you should get this book. It is based on a slide show he gives. This short video will give you the idea – and it starts with a very funny piece … http://ted.com/tedtalks/tedtalksplayer.cfm?key=al_gore&gclid=CNbAgJWkhYoCFR1TZwodezxY9g . The short video/podcast does not explain the problem that well – only the solution – but is worth watching nonetheless.
You may ask what has this to do with the blog's topic - “Right sizing” Project Management - well nothing actually!! The book had such an impact on me that I went out and bought a biofuel car, so I wanted to pass the book reference along! Though project managers could learn lots from Al Gore (the scientist) and his use of metrics / statistics. The numbers make the case he makes very compelling.
