Manage Projects on SharePoint

Microsoft Project Conference - Invited to Present - "Opening SharePoint to Project 2010"

Jul-292009

The Microsoft Project community host their annual conference in Arizona in mid-September (14th to 17th).  This is dubbed a "disclosure event".  What that means is that the Microsoft Project team will disclose to the wider community and press their 2010 release details.  As a close in partner it will be fascinating to see the reaction of the wider community when they see the exciting developments that we have been looking at for some time now.  I believe the community will be very excited with the upcoming 2010 Project release.  In a very recent blog post the Project Team did list the main 2010 Project investment areas which does some give some clues.  But come to the Project Conference in Arizona in September and all will be revealed.

We were delighted to be invited to speak - especially on the topic - which is near and dear to our hearts at BrightWork.  And at this conference we will be showing our pmPoint product working with Project 2010 and SharePoint 2010 - that will be a full six months (at least) before these products actually ship.  It will be exciting for us to get the community feedback on our direction also.

I can not say too much more about the session just yet as the session is all Microsoft Project (and SharePoint) 2010 focused and we are still under non-disclosure - but here is the session description:

Session Title - "Opening SharePoint to Project 2010"

Speaker: Eamonn McGuinness, BrightWork | Level 200 - Intermediate Level

Abstract

The Challenge … Many customers today still manage work and projects using whiteboards, email and Excel.  More to the point many of these customers do not have a commonly applied mature process for managing work and projects.  Some combination of Project Desktop, Office and SharePoint would greatly help these customers be way more productive with their work and project management.

The Solution … This partner led session will: (1)  Present a reusable real world process model for managing work and projects of various types and sizes.  (2)  Demo how Project Desktop and SharePoint can sit well together.  (3) Explain and demo a simple but pragmatic process to use Project, Office and SharePoint for the flexible management of work and projects.
