Many moons ago when we delivered the first Gantt chart in SharePoint, that crossed multiple lists and sites, our customers were well pleased. Then we focused on many other cool new features - like graphs, charts, KPI's, Microsoft Project integration, new templates, etc.. In all the new reporting features we added very flexible configuration options that were sadly not passed along to the Gantt chart reports. The Gantt chart became the child that got left behind - not willingly - but resources got spent elsewhere. More recently many of our customers have been asking for a newer fresher, more Microsoft Project like Gantt chart for pmPoint, with all the flexibility of pmPoint reporting.
And in v8 (that goes beta this month and ships in October) we delivered a Gantt that works across any work list - including our Project Schedule list (a list that has the ability to map tasks with sub-tasks and dependencies). This Gantt requires no plug-in - once pmPoint is installed on SharePoint this works in the browser. We also spent lots of time working on performance so this renders extremely fast.
We also delivered a new Gannt that crosses many project sites and gives a neat cross-project report on the SharePoint dashboard.
And finally (drum roll please!) we made the configuration of the Gantt extremely flexible - caught-up with the rest of the pmPoint reporting options.
