Manage Projects on SharePoint

Share project plans, create task lists for Team Members and receive ‘real time’ project status … Without Project Server!

Nov-222010

When you look at the title of this post you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a "compete with Project Server" message. Those who know BrightWork would be even doubly surprised as we explain that we do not compete with Project Server - rather we compliment. (Note to self - maybe I should make this explanation the topic of my next post). So where does this message come from? Microsoft! Where else!

Tod Monchecourt is the EPM Solution specialist with Microsoft in the US South East and invited us to do a webcast on this very topic.

It was an interesting event that we delivered last Friday morning that was very well received. What we did was:

  • Introduce how project information can be shared with teams - using the new 2010 capabilities from Microsoft
  • Did a demo as follows:
    • Creating a new site in SharePoint and then building a plan in Microsoft Project 2010 and importing it into SharePoint
    • Making changes in SharePoint to that plan by just using a browser and then sync'ing them back out to Microsoft Project
    • Extending the above functionality to produce very cool Gantt charts and reports across many projects

You can get access to this webcast in our webcast recordings area
