We got a great question from a customer yesterday as we were about to do a webcast.
“does this webinar actually cover how to use SharePoint for project management, or is it just for the purpose of demonstrating BrightWork custom products for purchase to use with SharePoint?”
I guess I should explain what webcast we were presenting. It was:
“Project Management on SharePoint – ensuring User Adoption – the Top 5 Critical Factors”
The webcast we did was on the Ensuring User Adoption, and we presented the top 5 factors as we have learned them from our experience, and those factors would be generally applicable. In other words – we reckon that every organization deploying SharePoint for project management – could benefit from these experiences we have had. However we always say that out of the box SharePoint only brings you so far when it comes to managing projects and portfolios. To get full utility from SharePoint for project management you do need to extend the platform. You can extend by building or buying a plug-in. To decide whether you will build or buy, you need to see examples of SharePoint extended and working well for project management.
In our webcast yesterday we used BrightWork as the example of the extended SharePoint, and the attendees seemed to really like the clarity that this brought to the webcast and the problem domain.
